Through the Hands of a Practitioner: Karen Sands
This month we caught up with Karen Sands, Rosen Method Intern
Insights and Reflections
I first came across the Rosen Method in 2018 whilst at a yoga retreat in Spain that included private Rosen sessions. That first session with Fran was a turning point. I had no expectations, but as I lay there in the caring, non-judgemental space she had created, she gently asked, “What was that, Karen?” At that moment, something surfaced—something I hadn’t even been consciously aware of. Tears came, and I cried and cried. It made so much sense. The way I had been living, behaving, and feeling. It all suddenly became clearer.
That weekend was what I truly needed, even though I didn’t realise it at the time.
And so, my journey into Rosen training began. In May 2023, I became an intern practitioner, meaning I can now practise under supervision. This work has transformed not just how I feel but what I believe about myself. It has helped me understand who I am in a way I never could before.
Life looks entirely different now—I took early retirement from my 9-5 career, and in July 2023, I also became a yoga teacher. My world is fuller, richer and more in tune with who I truly am. The difference? Now, I’m living it—fully and authentically.
If you’re curious about Rosen, I encourage you to take that first step—like I did. You never know how much it might change your life.
