Rosen Method Movement Teacher

I have been teaching Rosen Method Movement since January 2023. I came across this beautiful modality during my Rosen Method Bodywork training in 2018, a discipline which I am currently practicing as an Intern.

Initially I did not realise that the movement which was used during the bodywork training was an actual part of Rosen Method. I thought it was a way of keeping the students moving after a long time of sitting on the chairs or laying on the therapy tables. I was surprised with the simplicity of the movements and as I enjoyed moving to the music, I found myself getting totally immersed in the class. There was something mesmerising in the way I was able to move with a sense of freedom and feeling the simple, everyday movements as if they transformed me into a beautiful swan. Not literally but internally. Every time we moved, my eyes would close, and I would instinctively feel the movement inside of me as if my body was caressing me from inside. The beautiful music carried my movement and let me go deeply into the joy of newly found freedom, ease, and most of all connection with my inner self. Later into my training, I realised that while I was moving my body somehow, I was touching my soul. There was something beautiful and transformative in meeting myself and the outer world that way.

The Rosen Method Movement was developed by Marion Rosen who is the founder of Rosen Method Bodywork, and who was a physiotherapist. She developed the movement as a way of preventing her clients from incurring physical injuries by attending her weekly classes where students were able to perform every day, simple movements with ease and no effort. She structured the class in such a way that at the end of each session, every muscle in the body would be moved, gently stretched and every joint lubricated. In time, students’ flexibility and balance would improve and body self-awareness deepen. The muscle tension would slowly give in and with that, return to our natural way of moving, breathing and being would settle in. Participating in the Rosen Movement classes creates connections not only as individuals but also as a group and in that, fostering inner wellbeing and joyful attitudes in our lives.

I teach classes every week in person in Leicestershire and online within the UK and internationally. I teach Rosen Movement during the Rosen Method Bodywork and Anatomy courses and variety of workshops. I demo this method to several support groups such as cancer support groups and many others. I also provide private classes on request.

I am often asked about how I came across Rosen Method or what drew me into it. My answer is that I was not looking for it, incidentally, it was the Rosen Method which found me and while in Rosen Method, I found myself.

Having experienced the transformative power of this method and its impact on me and the clients, I am inspired by its outer simplicity and yet profound inner complexity to continue to teach and to grow the Rosen Method Movement for as long as I am able to. It is my sincere wish, as it was Marion’s, that this method is experienced by everyone, all over the world.

What Rosen Method means to me is: Humanity.
