My first Rosen session was over 15 years ago at the magical Buddhafield festival. It was powerful, gentle, extraordinary – and yet so ordinary. Iremember the practitioner’s presence, the feeling of being truly met and accepted and the realisation ‘oh – really, it’s all so simple’.
And that was that.
It was a couple of years later that I returned to Rosen. I had travelled in India in the early nineties and discovered the power of yoga asana, breath and meditation practices. I completed my teacher training in 1999 and was teaching mainstream and specialised classes, individual sessions, leading retreats at Dhanakosa Buddhist Centre and Samye Ling Monastery and co-ordinating the Yoga Space at Buddhafield. I continued to train with many wonderful teachers. But I was longing for someone to help me explore in a different way the habitual patterns I recognised in myself and others. I attended one or two Rosen weekends then an intensive – with no intention of becoming a practitioner.
However … I began my Rosen internship in 2017. I’m taking my time, enjoying the support of peers and teachers in both my personal and professional development. I hope to complete later this year. Due to caring responsibilities, I currently offer just a few Rosen sessions/week in Lancaster. I intend to resume sessions in Manchester in the near future. Rosen influences and enriches my yoga practice and teaching – and vice versa. There is a lovely harmony between the two.
